Starting therapy

matters8The first two sessions of CBT are often utilised as a detailed assessment. This will involve time spent on getting to know each other,  gaining an understanding of the boundaries and structure of CBT and agreeing a therapy  contract.

Within this interactive process, your therapist will facilitate identification , clarification and understanding of  your main current difficulties.

Using this information, your therapist will offer you an explanation of any specific strategies which will be used and how they will be implemented.

An estimation of the number of sessions required will be given and your consent to proceed with therapy will be sought. The final part of assessment,is agreeing goals for practice and organising future sessions.
